Methodology

This report is based on the hundreds of Baku venues tracked and reviewed by the Harda editorial team during 2025-2026. Observations and trends

Baku's restaurant scene moves toward depth rather than category breadth: the top three categories (Azərbaycan mətbəxi, Türk mətbəxi, Avropa mətbəxi) cover 52% of the catalog. This reflects how firmly Baku's culinary culture sits on Azerbaijani and neighboring regional cuisines.
Premium-tier venues (4.8★ and above) make up 26% of the catalog. This is consistent with the editorial selection principle: weak venues are not listed, and the remaining base shows mid-to-high quality.
Geographically, restaurants are most densely concentrated in the central Səbail and Nəsimi districts, reflecting tourist-center demand. Yasamal and Narimanov are "daily" restaurant districts for locals.
The modern cafe and brunch format (Paul, Social Bee, Coffee Moffe, Baku Roasting) has grown sharply in the past 5 years. Before 2020, this segment barely existed in Baku.

Limitations

This report is built on the current curated base tracked by the Harda editorial team (see stat cards above). The actual number of restaurants in Baku is much larger (about 1500+). The goal of this report is not a "complete list" but a "base of venues a Bakulu editor has visited and can recommend." Future annual reports will expand the base.
